UGEZI TIGER LODGE

UGEZI TIGER LODGE is located amongst the picturesque slopes of the mountains forming the gorge area of the Cahorra Bassa dam, Tete Province.

Cahora Bassa has been “unfished” for 25 years. During December 1996 a 14.9Kg tiger was landed. Tigers weighing between 4-8 Kg are common. Bigger Tigers are normally caught using the drifting method. This area offers a wide variety of fish e.g.: Chessa, bream, Cornish jack, vundu, eel and many other species.

Accommodation :

· En suite thatched cottages, each accommodating 2, 6, 8 & 9 pax these units are fully serviced.

Cottages and the communial ablutions are provided with hot water units and ventilation fans – some cottages are also provided with air-conditioning.

· Camping facilities with adequate communial male and female ablutions. Occupants unlimited

· A 240m˛ thatched lapa overlooking the dam, containing the main well equipped kitchen, full bar, dining/leisure area and reception. A pleasant thatched umbrella covered area on deck.

Bar and Restaurant facilities are available to all lodge visitors.

The best months for fishing at Ugezi’s are October, November, December, January & February, but fishing is generally good throughout the year.

There are more than 40 species of angling fish in the dam, of which Tiger fish, Bream, Chessa, Cornish Jack and Vundu are the most popular.

Ugezi Tiger Lodge is a fly fishing haven – the biggest tiger on fly to date was 4.5kg.
