Praia de Ouro Sul is situated on the beach where the South African and Mozambican borders meet. If your idea of an unforgettable holiday demands tropical beaches, white sands, hot island weather, the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and a relaxed atmosphere, you have come to the right place.
Praia de Ouro Sul is situated in the south of Mozambique, five minutes’ drive from the tranquil village of Ponta De Ouro and approximately 40 minutes’ drive from the Kosi Bay border post, less than 400 km north of Durban and 700 km from Johannesburg
Praia de Ouro Sul is the ultimate holiday destination for people looking for stylish and comfortable accommodation in truly unspoilt, remote and tranquil surroundings. Different types and configurations of accommodation is available. We extend a warm welcome to all wedding parties, conference groups & other group bookings , such as fishing or diving groups, and will put together an unforgettable package for the whole group.
We offer a wide variety of activities at the resort itself, and the neighbouring village Ponta De Ouro , which is a mere 10 minutes’ drive away, is world-famous for diving and fishing.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation in permanent tents, constructed onto a wooden deck, fully equipped, is available throughout the year at Praia de Ouro Sul. You can choose between a superior tent (accommodating only two people), a single luxury tent (accommodating a maximum of four people in an open area) and double luxury tents (accommodating a maximum of four people each in a tent, two tents situated next to each other on a wooden deck, sharing a kitchenette). All tents have electricity and hot and cold water.
Every tent, be it a single, double or superior tent, has a refrigerator, tea/coffee making facilities, a separate bathroom with a shower, basin and toilet (the superior tent also has a bath), a wardrobe, a desk/dressing table with a chair, a fan and patio furniture. Bedding and towels are supplied. No swimming towels are supplied in the tents - please bring your own or hire swimming towels from reception.
Please note that no braais (barbeques) are allowed at the tents. A boma (communal braai area) with thatched roof, kitchenette, electricity and a large braai area is available for braais and cooking. The restaurant serves breakfast, light meals during the day and dinner daily, except for out of season, when the restaurant is closed on Mondays.

Single luxury tents accommodate four people in an open area. Apart from the furniture that can be found in all of the tents, two ¾ beds and one bunker bed are supplied in the standard tents.
Double luxury tents are available for larger families or friends who want to stay close to each other. The double tents are two single tents constructed together onto the wooden deck with a shared kitchenette between the two tents. The double tents are similar to the standard tents regarding furniture. The kitchenette is equipped with a refrigerator, gas burners, kitchen utensils and two self-catering baskets with crockery and cutlery etc. to be used at the boma, which are included in the daily rate.
The only superior tent (called "The Salon") accommodates only two people and is ideal for Honeymoon couples and other couples celebrating a special event. Apart from the usual furniture that can be found in all of the tents, the superior tent also have two loungers on the patio, a queen size bed and linen of the very best quality. All the furniture in the superior tent is ivory, and the colour scheme is blue and ivory. There is also a bath in the bathroom as well as a shower, basin and toilet. The self-catering basket with crockery and cutlery, etc. to be used at the boma, is included in the daily rate.
In Ponta do Ouro, the following, among others, can be found:
- a shopping centre where you can buy basic necessities and bread, cold drinks, etc.
- an open-air market, selling anything from vegetables to headache tablets
- a few restaurants, one also serving light meals during the day. You can also buy fresh bread, pies and cake here daily
- curio shops
- a beach camp, from which many diving schools and swimming with dolphins excursions operate.
