AREIA BRANCA
Areia Branca is 485kms North of Maputo with access on tarred roads until the last 7kms leading to the lodge which is gravel and sea sand, where a 4×4 or 2×4 with diff lock is needed. There are daily flights from Johannesburg to Inhambane Airport on LAM Airlines. Inhambane airport is 28km from the lodge and a shuttle service to and from the airport is available through the Areia Branca beach lodge. Areia Branca Lodge is a secluded unspoilt beach lodge offering self catering accommodation and camping facilities in Inhambane, Mozambique and is bordered by the Inhambane estuary on the one side and the Indian Ocean on the other. The beach lodge itself is nestled amongst the coconut groves and the accommodation offers easy access to the estuary and the sea. The warm waters of the Inhambane estuary offer safe bathing, smooth and easy boat launching and there are also a wide range of additional activities including horse riding and local sight seeing. Fishing grounds and diving reefs are nearby and the Inhambane reefs offer endless pleasures for scuba divers and snorkelers.
Accomodation
Areia Brancas Mozambique holiday accommodation comprises tasteful and comfortable wood and grass self-catering casitas (chalets) which can accommodate 4-6 guests. The units comprise 2 bedrooms, kitchen, living area (with 2 additional beds), patio and bathroom. Shared braai (barbeque) facilities are available as well as a childrens jungle gym all situated between the beach and lagoon under a cool palm tree plantation. Self Catering chalets : chalets are built in traditional Mozambican Casita style and, with the exception of towels, are fully equipped with the necessary equipment. All chalets face the estuary. Each Casita at Areia Branca Lodge has: 2 bedrooms (one with a double bed and one with 2 single beds Shower and toile Open plan kitchen & living area which can accommodate another 2 childre Outside semi-enclosed pati Electricity is supplied 24 hours by EDM with a back-up generator Each Casita is serviced and laundry facilities are available upon request Areia Brancas Mozambique holiday accommodation also offers camping facilities. Traditional Mozambique camping is offered under a shelter, or baracca, whilst the executive camping guests are accommodated in 4-6 sleeper chalets which are unfurnished and unequipped. Executive camping is not available during peak season. Executive Camping: Available in the 6 sleeper casita which is unfurnished, unequipped and un-serviced. Camping : There are 15 covered camping sites available at the lodge, each with its own power point and electricity. Clean and neat ablution facilities with hot water are available.
Entertainment and Sports
There are many activities to be enjoyed within the area such as scuba diving, catamaran yacht charter, boat fishing and sightseeing. The Inhambane is steeped in history and was the most southerly trading port in Africa used by the Arabs. Scuba Diving Fishing Snorkeling Bird Watchin Horse Ridin Mangrov Dhow Trip Snake rides, paddle skis, surfboards, kayaks and boogie boards are just some of the activities available
