EXPERIENCE Sava Dunes
Sava Dunes is a coastal escape like no other. Perfectly located between Barra Beach and vibrant Tofo, this eco-lodge sits atop golden dunes with uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean. This is one of Mozambique’s most untouched and beautiful regions.
Every direction you look offers nature at its finest. Rolling sand dunes meet the turquoise sea, creating an idyllic setting for travelers looking to unwind in complete seclusion.
Sava Dunes blends luxury and sustainability. Built entirely off-grid, the lodge runs on solar power and prioritizes minimal environmental impact. Here, comfort meets conscious living.
The accommodation options include five Ocean-Facing Cottages and one spacious Garden-View Family Chalet. Each unit is designed to immerse guests in the raw beauty of the coastline while offering upscale amenities.
The beach lies just meters from your cottage. Warm waters and surfable waves make it ideal for bodyboarding and casual swims. During whale season, you can witness humpback whales and whale sharks in their natural habitat. Bottlenose dolphins also make regular appearances.
This area is globally recognized for its ocean safaris. If you love marine life, this is the place to be.
Sava Dunes is located on the Inhambane coastline in southern Mozambique. It’s just 1.5 km from Barra Beach and 5.5 km from Tofo village.
The easiest way to reach us is by flying. You can fly into Inhambane Airport, which is only 40 minutes from the lodge. Alternatively, Vilanculos is also an option. We offer airport transfers for an additional fee. Just let us know when you book.
Sava Dunes is a self-drive destination for experienced 4×4 drivers. The final stretch includes sandy beach roads and dunes, so proper driving skills are essential.
If you don’t have a 4×4, no problem. We provide alternative parking with lodge transfers available at a daily rate.
Whether you’re seeking solitude, adventure, or both, Sava Dunes delivers. Escape the ordinary and immerse yourself in the wild beauty of Mozambique’s coastline. We’re ready to welcome you to your private beach sanctuary.
Accomodation
Wake up to panoramic ocean views in one of Sava Dunes’ five stunning Beach Cottages. Each cottage sits perched on the sand dunes, offering a front-row seat to the Indian Ocean. Enjoy the sunrise from the comfort of your bed, or step out onto your private wooden deck to soak in the peaceful surroundings.
Each deck features a hammock, a swinging chair, and a cozy seating area with two chairs and a side table. It’s the perfect space to unwind with a tropical cocktail or a glass of fine wine from our bar.
Designed for relaxation, the cottages blend a breezy, beachy style with authentic Mozambican touches. They sleep two guests comfortably, with the option of adding a third bed for a child. Beds come equipped with mosquito nets for a restful night’s sleep. Cottages can be set up with either a double bed or twin configuration.
The open-plan bathrooms feature ocean-view windows and solar-heated showers. Bathroom amenities are included, and turn-down service is provided. South African plug points are available in each unit.
And for those who still want to stay connected, Starlink Wi-Fi is coming soon to every cottage.
Ideal for families or a group of friends, the Garden Cottage offers a relaxed stay just steps from the lodge’s main access path. Although it doesn’t have an ocean view, it offers a spacious balcony with a seating area where you can enjoy drinks in the shade.
The cottage features two bedrooms: one with a double bed and another with twin single beds and a sleeper couch. Mosquito nets are provided on all beds. The unit includes one bathroom with a shower, standing fans in each room, and standard South African plug sockets. Starlink Wi-Fi is also coming soon to this cottage.
