EXPERIENCE TRAVESSIA BEACH LODGE
Travessia is a beautiful Eco Beach Lodge offering barefoot luxury.
It is located just 1.5 hours from Inhambane Airport, along a 6-kilometer sand track. The lodge is remote enough to provide a cast-away feeling, yet close enough for a weekend getaway.
Built among the dunes, the lodge sits between bush and palm trees. The rooms are strategically placed for maximum privacy and ocean views, while staying close to the lounge, restaurant, and beach. Each building rests on elevated wooden decks with timber and roll-up canvas walls, all under a roof thatched with local makuti. Wooden walkways connect the rooms to the reception area, restaurant, lounge, bar, and a spacious deck with views of the palm grove and sea.
The lodge runs entirely on solar power, ensuring a light environmental footprint.
Accomodation
All rooms at Travessia Lodge are exclusive and special;
Casa de Mel
is the most secluded of all our rooms, approximately 150m away from the restaurant and lounge. It is a double room with king size or twin beds, mosquito nets, ensuite bathroom with separate toilet and outdoor shower, large deck with hammock and sea views. The room can accommodate one extra bed for an accompanying child.
Casa Tartaruga
is our family room that can accommodate four people in either two king size or twin beds. The room is open plan with a canvas screen between the beds as a visual seperation, but otherwise open. It is therefore ideal for a family with children or a group of four really good friends who dont mind sleeping dorm-style. It is equipped with mosquito nets, ensuite bathroom facilities with separate toilet and outdoor shower, large deck with hammock and 180 degree sea views. A fifth bed could be accommodated for a family of five.
Casa Baleia
is a double room with king size or twin beds, mosquito nets, ensuite bathroom with separate toilet and outdoor shower, large deck with hammock and sea views. The room is approximately 80m from the main house and restaurant.
Casa Madeira
is our friendly wooden house, perched on top of a dune with 360° views. It comes with queen size bed, mosquito net, ensuite bathroom with separate toilet and shower, as well as a wooden deck with hammock and sea views.
Casa Mavimbi
is a double room with king size or twin beds, mosquito nets, ensuite bathroom with shower and separate toilet and outdoor shower, large deck with hammock and sea views. The room is just a short walk away from the pool deck and has its private walkway from the deck into the palmgrove to the beach.
Facilities
The Restaurant
Our menu is inspired by what is in season and available at the local markets and shops. For fresh fish or crayfish we like to rely on the local spear-fishermen. Whilst mango, pawpaw or avocado are seasonal, our coconuts are available all year round!
For breakfast we serve cereal, yoghurt and fruit, rolls or home-baked bread with honey, jam, peanut butter, marmite or cheese. Order your English breakfast with eggs, bacon, beans and tomato. For lunch we go light, usually with a salad, sandwiches or a burger. Dinner is served plated as a set menu. We usually prepare a fish or meat dish with different side servings and salad, followed by desert. Our home-made pineapple or mango ice creme is legend! We strive to accommodate special dietary requirements as good as we can with groceries available.
The Beach Bar & Pool
A short walk from the restaurant takes you to our beach bar and pool deck. Here, you can stretch out on our locally made loungers whilst enjoying 360 degree views over the endless coastline and a sea of palm trees of the hinterland.
If the weather is right, we invite for an early afternoon braai on the pool deck. Our bar is stocked with local beers, soft drinks, a selection of South African wines and spirits, and everything you need for the good old G&T for when the sun sets…
